Latest Traveler Review: We've tried Banana Cafe Twice. We won't be back. We tried to like it. The art, colors, and decorations are vibrant and expressive. The piano upstairs is a nice touch. But the food is really bland! And what have they done to their jalepenos??? They're not hot!!! The salsa was tasteless so we asked for a hotter salsa. They didn't have any, but offered to bring us a plate of diced jalepenos. But the jalepenos were not hot!!! They tasted like sweet bell peppers. We then asked for hot sauce. They didn't have Mexican hot sauces - only Tabasco which changes the flavor of salsa. The much hyped Mango Margaritas were watery and I doubt had any alcohol. The service was very slow. An hour from placing the order to receiving meal (for 4 people). We all tried different dishes. The cuban dishes were better than others, but all the food really is bland. Go see Barracks Row - great shops and restaurants. Just skip the Banana Cafe for dinner. Have a beer then move along.
