Latest Traveler Review: Our visit to La Tomate was based on the proximity to our hotel, Embassy Suites. Actually, our concierge suggested La Tomate as being close to the hotel, when it fact it seemed quite a walk! Upon arriving, we were directed to the second floor (no man's land, although it was near the restrooms), and didn't get the best service. We heard the music and lots of activity downstairs but could see none of it. In fairness, we did have a large group of eight people, I suppose that's why we were upstairs. But the service was slow, we ran out of beverages often and they didn't check on us much. The food is definitely nouveau Italian cuisine, not my taste at all. Should have checked the menu first. It wasn't bad, just not my liking. Not much seasoning, very bland. With the bread (very hard), they served something dark brown & pasty. Not sure what that was. I ordered the chicken scallopini, which was okay but had some sort of brown gravy on it. Not my idea of good Italian. I was in a group with about 5 guys who are carnivores, and needless to say, they were still hungry when we left. Eat there if you like this sort of food.
