Latest Traveler Review: I went to Art and Soul last night with a couple of girlfriends and had a great evening and meal! The restaurant had only just opened two days prior so we were thrilled to meet Chef Art Smith. I was impressed that he didn't just do a "walk-by hello" and move on to a table with an older demographic when he saw three young women at the table. He actually chatted with us for several minutes and sent over two hoecakes for us to try. In a way he also seemed kind of nervous which was endearing coming from Oprah's former personal chef. I had never even heard of a hoecake and I had my doubts about beef/crab/brie together on a cake but it really really worked. The Land and Sea hoecake is delicious (again I was so surprised), the Mac & Cheese is insanely good (I would come just for that at lunch), and the Grouper is perfect in every way (they should bottle and sell that broth)! I really had a great experience and will definitely return to Art and Soul again and again. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends.
