Latest Traveler Review: Working right next door, Bread & Chocolate would be a natural choice to patron for lunch or even a mid-afternoon latte. However, their snobby, 'manager-always-right' attitude is a real turn off for many of my co-workers and me. To be fair, I've given them several tries now -- either my order was incorrect, nasty (the syrup in my mocha coagulated on the top, ew) or overpriced for what you get (a sad 1/2 wrap and scolding hot soup). Recently, they flat-out refused to give my co-worker her correct change because she couldn't PROVE she just handed over a $20 for a muffin and cookie after just coming from the bank! They insisted she paid with a $10. Unbelievable!And it's sad, with a new Starbucks a block away on M & 25th, I'm actually cheering for them!! They ONLY thing B&C have going for them are their gorgeous, whole cakes from the bakery you can order to go -- they are beautiful and delicious and a real treat for office birthdays. That must be how they make money to stay in business with all the choices in DC.
