Latest Traveler Review: The long narrow room is comfortably decked out in soft grey surrounds and sprinkled with red cushions. A crimson tiled wall adds some funk and the marble-topped bar contributes a glamorous touch - but the decor is not designed to intimidate. Local's wine list (featuring French, Aussie and Italian offerings) is deservedly admired. Meanwhile the cocktail list is an every-changing catalogue of seasonal fruits, worked into classic cocktails such as a bellini with fresh peach puree or a refreshing summer martini with cucumber and lychees. The three-tiered sandstone courtyard at the rear is flexible enough to host breakfast, lunch or dinner. We're out in the courtyard and the retractable roof is opened to the night sky. I love lush roasted figs wrapped in prosciutto and served on a blue cheese sauce that isn't assertively salty, seared Moreton Bay bug tails in a sweetcorn broth with basil and chilli and an autumnal wild mushroom tart with goats' curd. Excellent value for food and service!
