Graz is the second largest city or Austria, raking after Vienna. This city is situated in Mur River in the Southeast of Austria. Up to now, this city still has attracted many tourists around the world due to its natural beauty. And the population of this city is 305,000 people with majority being students. Therefore, Graz is well known for with its charming scenery and great Universities. And the rich history in education of Graz is expressed by a lot of universities. The name “Graz” roots from Slovenian word for castle. People know about the Slovenian name of castle is Gradec, means “small castle” which is etymologically a hypocoristic derivative of Proto-West-South Slavic. In 1128, Graz was called with its German name at the first time. And during the 15th century Graz was the capital inner Austria under Habsburgs. And the German name “Graz” was first used in 1128 and Graz was gradually becoming an important center under Babenberg rule and after that in 1281 Graz gained special privileges from King Rudolph I. During the 14th century this city became the city of settlement of the Inner Austrian line of the Habsburgs. In the 16th century, design of the city was initially controlled by Italian Renaissance architects and artists. One of the most famous buildings built in this style is the Landhaus which was designed by Domenico dell’ Allilo and was used by the local rulers as a governmental headquarters.
Graz is situated in the west bank of the River Mur at the foot of Schlossberg; the Altstadt is divided by two main commercial arteries which are Herrengasse and Sackstrasse. There are many impressive places for visitors and among the inviting shops and restaurants, splendid historic edifices stand out, such as the baroque Palais Attems and the more visited regional parliament, the Landhaus. The latter houses the Zeughaus, a huge historic armoury is also an authentic place.

In order to view the expanse of domes, spires and russet roofs of Altstadt, climbing Schlossberg, visitors can go by some kinds of transports such as funicular from Sackstrasse, walking up the steps of medieval Sporgasse as well as lift from Schlossbergplatz.
